This past weekend we photographed a beautiful bride and groom. Everyone knows they're beautiful and it's truly hard to take a bad picture. While working with the couple I kept this thought in the back of my head; it's not about their beauty, it's about who they are as people, their attitude towards one another, their passion for love, their attitude, esc....
This is what I was working to capture the whole time. These ingredients are what it takes to capture true love. Photoshop cannot portray love and emotion. Lighting, composition, and timing can! We feel that the anticipation of a moment is the best way to truly tell a story as a wedding photographer. Our patience continues to pay off, and knowing our equipment and lighting scenario is what allows us to capture each moment when it happens. In other words, NOT missing the shot! We are NOT photojournalist; we are candid, real life wedding photographers!

Sometimes I feel the art of photography is taken for granted.There are so many people with digital camera's nowa-days, and the word "photographer" is over-used. Many people who have the ability to take good pictures will soon call themselves professional photographers.

So the word can be used loosely to describe anyone who takes photographs. Many of our wedding and portrait clients would agree that we set ourselves apart. We do this by controlling the viewable quality that is perceived as coming from our photography studio. A lot of times we'll release photographs on social media sites such as Facebook. This allows our images to be seen by thousands of people within minutes. It's also nice to see comments and feedback on your services to assure you that you're still doing an amazing job. Other clients can tag the images or albums and recommend you to their friends. In my opinion, it is the most economical and efficient way of advertising in the 21st century.
We love children's photography because we love capturing a young life that is blossoming right in front of you. Children's portraits are a challenge because they're so rambunctious, and always moving. We like to take the lifestyle approach to photographing children in their every day environment. Show who they are, and what they were like at this certain age.

Christie and I, both professional photographers, will be traveling to Kansas City this weekend to discuss the Wedding Photography market with some key individuals. We'll also be spending a lot of time with the infamous owners of Barbour Backdrops.

We made it back from the Iowa City Bridal Show late last night. Iowa City is a beautiful town, with so much architecture and history. It gives us such a good feeling when Brides come up to our booth and say you're the Best Wedding Photographer here!
We made some AMAZING contacts, and got information to be linked to a major player in the floral design market. I was attacked by one of the other vendors and she demanded that I contact this specific person. Who is very accustomed to BIG events that attract celebrities from around the world. So maybe we'll get our foot in the door!
Otherwise, the turnout wasn't as expected, but we talked to a few people that seemed to be very interested in our photojournalist wedding photography! I don't prefer to describe our style that way, but that's what people understand. I would call us lifestyle Wedding Photographers who capture the true essence of this very beautiful day.
